I have a confession to make. A big, fat confession. An embarrassing, humiliating confession. Here I am, an ambassador for Spiritual well-being and balance that I preach to anyone who will listen. I talk about healing; healing of the mind, body and soul. I write about it in my new book One Spirit Place, the powerful connection between person & soul.  I firmly believe in the mind-body-spirit connection and that any and all physical issues have a meta physical root cause. And I really believe and KNOW that what I am saying is true. So, here is my confession: I am grossly overweight. I am fat. Very fat. Unhealthy fat. Not just pleasingly plump or curvy, but fat. You get the picture. How can this be? How can, I, the one who is so good at telling everyone else how they need to figure out the root cause of their physical problem NOT have been able to figure out the root cause of my problem? How can I be writing and talking about "balance" and "healing", "self-love"and "spiritual harmony" between body and soul and not be healthy myself? I am guilty of not practicing what I preach when it comes to my own health and self-love. That is all about to change.

We all are outraged at the "not guilty" verdict in the Casey Anthony trial. Although the verdict, in my opinion, was not surprising as there was no evidence that Casey murdered her little girl Kaylee. But we all know one thing for sure: Kaylee is dead and Casey Anthony knows how and why she died. Other than that, we can't assume to know anything else; we don't know what Casey Anthony did, or did not do in the death of her daughter. I understand the lack of evidence to support a conviction, I called that one early on. But it just doesn't seem right that Casey Anthony has walked out of an Orlando prison to begin life anew as a free woman.

Casey Anthony is anything but free. Oh, she is free in the sense that she is not locked in a physical jail cell. She is free in that she can come and go as she pleases. She is free from the fear of ever having to be tried again for the death of her little girl Kaylee.

But Casey Anthony is anything but free.

“Karma” is a phrase that gained in popularity with the coming of the “New Age” movement. It is a Sanskrit word, meaning what you reap you sew. John and Yoko Lennon recorded “Instant Karma”, a popular and catchy tune from the 1970’s and it became vogue to use the phrase routinely. I always likened “instant karma” to talking back to my mother then while walking away tripping and falling. Whoops, instant karma!

Karma has also been misunderstood; it is often perceived as something negative that happens to the person. The Guides clearly say that Karma is not to be feared, but it is wise to understand and respect it. Think about karma from a higher, spiritual perspective. The Law of Attraction states the energy that emits forth into the universe is what drives the return flow of energy back into your person.

If we examine the karmic Law of Attraction, what you intend to put out into the Universe is what you will ultimately create and get back, both in the positive and the negative. Always remember this – intention is the key to successful creation of what it is you want to create. Karma is NEVER imposed on the person by a mean-spirited, vengeful God, but rather, karma is self-imposed.

Numerous books have been written on the laws of karma, but it really comes down to some simple basic Universal truths. “What goes around comes around” is an accurate description of karma as is the golden rule of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” The Law of Attraction is the thoughts, actions and intentions you put into the Universe will all come back to you increased in the manifestation. These are all concepts that can be applied to karma.

Simply stated, karma is not a BAD thing, it is not a GOOD thing, and it is just WHAT IS! Karma is not thrust upon your person; it is CREATED by your person. A person’s karma can only be created by themselves. In other words, I cannot create karma FOR my children or my spouse or other family members. I can co-create karma with them, but not FOR them. The effects of my creation of karma could feel good or not so good, depending upon the intention of my creation. It would be virtually impossible to go through an entire incarnation on the planet without hurting someone, intentionally or unintentionally.

Intention is key. If I am a willing participant in behaviors that are hurtful, then I will create karma for myself. The over used example of making fun of someone who is different will result in my having to experience life from the other persons perspective is karma in its purest form. The old saying about walking in the shoes of someone else can become the reality of the soul who has to deal with the karma they created. The Guides say that karma is the life lesson that all need to learn – what karma is to your healing is what love is to God. Karma is the law that simply gives it back to you tenfold, whatever it may be. Love, kindness, money, healing, friendship or hate, greed, jealousy, anger, all of the emotions that in human form we feel that we decide through free will to create are what karma gives us back. How many times have we heard about getting back what we put out, or creating your own energy? The boomerang effect, watch out for it, as it will come back at you, no matter what it is.

Again, the important concept here is still the Law of Attraction. Karma is what you will learn the hard way if your person refuses to accept responsibility and accountability for your own actions, words and thoughts. Big thoughts and little ones, they all can and do create your life and your karma. But don’t get hung up on the word karma; live your life in loving awareness, not fear.

KARMA IS ALWAYS CREATED BY THOUGHTS WORDS ACTIONS AND DEEDS!

I wonder how Casey's Karma will manifest in her life....

Have you ever heard an "oldie" on the radio and without consciously doing so, found your thoughts drifting back to a moment in time....some of the memories are sweet to your soul, some make you laugh out loud, and others can still make you cringe at the thought of what you were doing then or what was happening at the moment...I grew up with three older siblings (one younger one, too) so I was introduced to the current sounds at a young age. My father was a music buff; he introduced us to the" Big Band" sound of Mitch Miller, Guy Lombardo and others. I didn't appreciate my Dad's "old" music then, not with the sound of Frankie Vali and the Four Seasons pounding the airways..."why don't you come out, with your red dress on, come out, where you look so fine, come out, moving nice and easy, Girl, you make me lose my mind" . Who could forget that amazing falsetto voice!

Last week we learned that my Mom's cancer has spread and she has only months to live. I was on the phone with her and the doctor when the bad news was delivered. She took it calmly and pretty matter-of-factly and actually said to me, "well, I was just had my death warrant signed but I have to go get ready for Bingo." I was the one taking it hard..she was the one who was consoling me. I am 57 years old and I still cannot imagine life here on the planet without my Mom. She is, well, you know, my mother. The woman who I thought was stupid when I was a teenager. The woman who I thought did not do so good of a job raising my brothers. The woman who I disrespected on a regular basis through- out my twenties, cause she did not see the world the way I saw it. She was not a feminist; she put up with anything my dad wanted to dish out, she was mostly a stay at home Mom who cooked the meals, cleaned the house and took care of us kids..Geez...I used to think her life was so boring..and why did she not put my Dad in his place for the way he treated her? My Mom met my Dad when she was 15 years old. She quickly fell head over heels in love with the older (21) year old good-looking dare devil that swept her off her feet. They married when she was only 16. She gave birth to my oldest brother at 17, my sister at 18, my next brother at 19, me at 21 and my younger brother at 22. My Dad was 28. They had 5 children under the age of 7...wow! Can you imagine that?
